Inspired by the past

The new Omega CK 859 Re-Edition is based on a model that made its debut in the mid-to-late 1930s, namely the reference CK 859. Powered by a series of different calibres over its lifetime, it is best known for being chosen as the model to launch the then newly developed calibre 30 T2. It is one of the most iconic movements ever created by Omega and has been the cornerstone of most mid-century collections. The 30 T2, referring to its 30 mm diameter, was the basis of the brand's success in chronometric competitions from 1940 to 1966.

This watch was typical of the production of the time, with a classic three-part case, flat bezel and domed glass. Its silver dial was inspired by the Art-Deco trend and features a so-called "sector dial" layout, recognisable by the different scales and sectors.

For this reissue, Omega has decided to retain all the charm of this old watch and offer us a model that is perfectly balanced with modernised elements. It has a 39 mm stainless steel case with a brushed central part and a flat polished bezel. It is topped with a domed sapphire crystal and the crown is stamped with a vintage Omega logo.
The dial uses solid Ag925 silver giving an impressive shine and sparkle. The design is respectful of the original model, with a centre sector dial and dark blue decal scales. The sword hands are in blued steel and there is also a small seconds counter at 6 o'clock making the dial perfectly balanced. The logo and the indexes use a typography faithful to the period. The whole is dressed with a vintage brown leather strap.

This model is a numbered edition and is not part of any of the brand's classic collections. Indeed, this model is part of the Specialities range.

Ultra-modern mechanics

This watch is powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8926 hand-wound calibre. This modern movement is visible behind a sapphire crystal caseback. It operates with two barrels mounted in series to provide a comfortable 72-hour power reserve. Certified Master Chronometer, it offers a precision of 0 to +5 seconds per day thanks to its silicon balance spring, its co-axial escapement and its very high resistance to magnetic fields. The decoration of the movement is not to be outdone, with its rhodium-plated finish and arabesque Côtes de Genève pattern.

The case back is engraved with several inscriptions: "NUMBERED EDITION", "CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER" and "CK 859" - a historical reference to the stainless steel and the case shape.
