Medals ans pendants

Thanks to the modernization of tools and equipment, the craftsmanship passed down from one generation to the next within the Lepage family has been enriched over time, making it possible to achieve true technical prowess and the creation of truly exceptional pieces of jewellery!

Quality and expertise

At Lepage, we are committed to offering you jewellery of impeccable quality, which will last a lifetime and accompany you throughout your life, before being passed on as a beautiful legacy to your children. For this reason, all our creations are made with the greatest care, and all go through a strict quality control before being given to you.

We don't mess around with diamonds

Every week, our gemologists go to the famous diamond exchange in Antwerp to select the precious stones that will be used to set the jewellery. Each diamond is chosen for its beauty and quality, according to very precise criteria, called the 4Cs: colour, clarity, cut and carat. All our stones weighing more than 0.5 carat are supplied with an HRD or GIA certificate, attesting to their authenticity, quality and traceability.

Hand-picked stones

Did you know that? There are only four gemstones: diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. All other natural stones are called "gemstones" or "ornamental stones" (the latter are also known as "hard stones"). Fine stones (formerly called "semi-precious", but this designation is no longer permitted) have the characteristic of being transparent, unlike ornamental stones which are opaque.

Thus, in the family of fine stones we find gems such as aquamarine, tourmaline, garnet, topaz, amethyst or citrine, and in the family of ornamental stones lapis lazuli, tiger's eye, malachite, turquoise, pyrite, carnelian or onyx. The last distinction that can be made is between the so-called organic stones such as mother-of-pearl, amber and coral, all of which come from living organisms such as shells and trees.

Each of the precious and fine stones that we use in the making of our jewellery is scrupulously examined by our gemologists to ensure that they meet our criteria of excellence.

Of love and pure gold

In order to limit its environmental impact and to produce as fairly as possible, Maison Lepage uses recycled gold to make its jewellery. This gold is partly bought back from our customers.

We only use 750 thousandths gold in the making of our collections, which is the best quality gold that can be found in jewellery stores. This material is actually an alloy, composed of 75% pure gold and 25% other precious metals in order to give a specific consistency and colour to the final result. Indeed, it is impossible to work with pure gold, which is much too soft and malleable.

In order to solidify and shape it, it is combined with copper, silver and palladium in different proportions depending on the final result you wish to achieve. For rose gold, a higher proportion of copper is added, giving a soft pink hue. For white gold, silver and palladium are used to give the alloy a silvery-grey hue (white gold is also called white gold). The jewel will then be covered with a thin layer of rhodium during the rhodium plating stage, which will give it its whiteness and shine. Rhodium plating should be repeated every two to three years to keep your jewellery looking its best, as it will eventually develop a natural patina over time.

Controlled production

1. Drawing, the basis of our profession

Drawing is the very first step in the making of a piece of jewellery. Our designers think and draw the sketch of the piece to be made. It is then computer modelled to see how the model supports the physical constraints. Once the model has been made, the finishing touches are added.

The first stage, the drawing, allows us to imagine the jewel and to conceive its technical aspect.

2. Creation with the wax model

A wax model of the design is then created. This prototype represents the jewel in its exact proportions with the places reserved for the precious stones or fine stones that have been selected.

3. The manufacture of the jewel, when the dream comes to life

The validated wax prototype is then sent to our manufacturing workshops to be transformed into a jewel. It is here that our jewellers make the mould from the wax model. The precious alloy is then poured into the mould and cooled to form the body of the jewel. The raw creation will be soldered and filed by our goldsmiths before passing into the hands of a setter.

4. Setting: know-how, mastery and dexterity

The setting is a meticulous work which consists in fixing the precious stone according to various processes, in a small cavity called "the bezel", before folding back the claws (or others) which surrounds it so that it is firmly maintained.

5. Polishing and rhodium plating, to enhance your jewellery

At this stage, the work of our jewellers consists of removing all visible traces left by the previous stages of manufacture. To do this, the piece will pass through several machines, then be brushed and embalmed with polishing paste. Once the polishing is done, if the jewel is made of white gold or platinum, it will be immersed in a rhodium bath for a few minutes, in order to freeze, whiten and reinforce its white shine.

6. Punching: recognition of our know-how and traceability

The final creative step consists of striking the jewel with a small hammer called the hallmark, in order to authenticate it.

The master hallmark: As a jewellery manufacturer, Maison Lepage has its own master hallmark which we affix to our jewellery to ensure optimal traceability.

The State hallmark: This hallmark guarantees the purity of the metal used.

At Lepage we have obtained an agreement with the guarantee office. We are subject to strict regulations that guarantee the precious metals and their origin. All our jewellery is hallmarked with an eagle's head, corresponding to 750 thousandths gold, or a wolf's head for platinum.

Les Estivales

Spinels

Found in many parts of the world, spinel is a gemstone with a unique appearance. The colour of the spinels in this trio is very specific, a deep, powerful 'denim blue' that is neither too light nor too dark. When we were presented with these three rare, magnificent stones, we were immediately captivated by their beauty... And so the exclusive spinel versions of the Lily Rose, Antoinette and Eleanor rings were born!

Lepage x Ginette 1922

Long-time partners, Ginette NY and Lepage have joined forces to create an exclusive collection: Bliss onyx. Through these jewels, available in limited edition, the deep black onyx is highlighted by the softness of pink gold... These poetic creations illustrate the expertise of these two great Houses.

Les Estivales

"Colour is stronger than language".

The Les Estivales collection is based on a strong concept: the reinterpretation of the most iconic Lepage jewels from each collection, in a new version. The origin of this exclusive collection lies in the love affair of Françoise Lepage, an expert in precious stones, for a batch of magnificent coloured sapphires, rare and sought-after gems.

Polka 1922

To celebrate its centenary, Maison Lepage has released a collection of necklaces in partnership with La Brune et La Blonde. These jewels, inspired by the pretty Polka collection signed by the naked diamond brand, are made of ornamental stones in vibrant colours. The small triangular pendants in lapis lazuli, golden mother-of-pearl, pyrite, tiger's eye and onyx are combined with yellow and pink gold to give life to sparkling creations full of life!

The 100 years Colette

A treasure of ingenuity

Available in limited edition only, this medal is an exclusive creation created for the centenary anniversary of our jewellery house. The idea of this pendant came to us as a matter of course, joining the Colette collection, a true signature of Maison Lepage.

The fine openwork design is comparable to a delicate lace veil, with its subtle and refined play of shapes. Numbered, each piece is unique and reveals all its beauty in the light, the gold shimmering to the slightest of your movements.

However, beyond the desire to create an aesthetic piece of jewellery, we felt that there was a deeper meaning to this creation. So, if you take a closer look, you may notice something surprising in the patterns that compose it...
