A. AUGIS, the jewel of a life
In the suburbs of Lyon, the A.Augis jeweller's shop has been making gold jewelry for young and old since 1830. A. Augis' vocation is to be the "first" of our jewels, the one we wear from the moment we are born, a medal that we will keep all our life and that will accompany us in each important step... This important symbolism still contributes today to the particular attachment to A. Augis jewels. Augis jewelry.
A. AUGIS, a historical reputation
It was Eugène Coquais who founded the company in 1830. A few years later, one of his daughters married a certain Charles Augis. Their son took over the company and made the jewelry business prosper. He gave it its name "A. Augis". In 2012, A. Augis joined forces with the Chevalier group and its label, Arthus Bertrand, a specialist in religious jewelry. Over the decades, the adventure and the family tradition have continued. Throughout the ages, the brand has always been able to adapt by offering collections that combine modernity and finesse and by establishing itself as an important and indispensable player in the jewelry industry in France.
THE LOVE MEDAL: THE EMBLEMATIC JEWEL OF THE BRAND
In 1907, Alphonse Augis, a third generation family member, was inspired by a poem dedicated by the poet Rosemande Gerard to her husband, the writer Edmond Rostand. Alphonse then created the love medal with these two verses "For you see each day I love you more Today than yesterday and well - than tomorrow" engraved on the pendant. The success of this jewel was considerable, it was translated into several languages and sold all over the world. To date, more than 2 million people have fallen for the love medal. The success of this medal is certainly due to the massive advertising set up at the time, the means were very important. At the end of the 1960's, A. Augis' love medal was on the back cover of Paris Match the week of General de Gaulle's death, a real achievement in terms of communication.
AN ANCESTRAL KNOW-HOW
Quality is the key word at A. Augis. Augis. At the beginning of the process, the sculptor shapes the material to give it the required appearance. The future jewel must then be pressed 5 to 15 times to obtain a flawless medal. The finishing touches are then worked by hand by meticulous and diligent craftsmen. This is how A. Augis can guarantee an irreproachable quality for its medals.
