This SBGM247 has been designed to be the road companion of any frequent traveller. Its 200-metre water-resistance combined with its GMT complication makes it a very versatile watch.
Sport and GMT: a perfect match
The GMT function is an integral part of the Manufacture Grand Seiko's catalogue and is offered in a wide range of styles, either with a Spring Drive calibre or a Quartz movement. This time, the Japanese brand presents a watch from the Sport collection offering an automatic movement with GMT complication. A model designed to be a must-have for any frequent traveller!
A sport-chic design
Designed and built with practicality and robustness in mind, this SBMG247 has a 40.5mm stainless steel case with a finish alternating between brushed and polished Zaratsu surfaces, typical of Japanese production. Designed to withstand a pressure of 20 bars thanks to its sighted crown, it also has a magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m making this watch a high-performance sports watch.
The top of the case has a domed sapphire crystal with a stainless steel bezel adorned with a 24-hour scale, allowing two time zones to be tracked. Its 20 mm lugs accommodate a satin-finished 3-link steel bracelet with a push-button folding clasp.
Its green dial has a vibrant sunburst finish. The hands and hour markers are faceted and applied, beautifully textured and finished with Lumibrite paint for excellent night-time legibility. Its orange GMT hand makes it immediately visible on the dial.
On the mechanical side
This SBGM247 is powered by the 9S66 calibre, one of Grand Seiko's most emblematic movements. Featuring a genuine GMT complication, the local time hand can be adjusted independently of the GMT hand. The wearer can then simply move the hour hand forward or backward in one-hour increments to the appropriate time without having to reset the watch. Like all Grand Seiko mechanical movements, the 9S66 is produced by the watchmakers of the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. It has a power reserve of 72 hours, and this automatic movement is accurate to within -3 to +5 seconds per day, thanks to its balance oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
