There is no longer any need to introduce the Newport from Michel Herbelin, an icon of French watchmaking. This watch was born in 1988 and has been produced in many, many variants. Launched for the 75th anniversary of the French watch brand, this Slim Squelette version has been nominated in the €1,001 to €2,000 category by the selection committee of THE WATCH OF THE YEAR, an event launched by Frank Sans C, journalist and youtuber of MyWatch! It is a limited series edited to 500 copies. A future collector for sure!

A unique design

Offering a mechanical ballet with a minimalist design, this timepiece reveals the intimacy of its hand-wound mechanical movement in a modern way. A piece of watchmaking tradition interpreted in a contemporary spirit, it retains the essence of its marine DNA - central lugs, a crown engraved with a marine wheel - while displaying a look of streamlined elegance.

Capturing the stylized geometry of a wheel bar, an identifiable and iconic element of the Newport collection, the skeletonized dial of this new watch highlights the complex orchestration of components and gears by offering us a mesmerizing spectacle. Skeletonization consists of removing as much material as possible from a movement without altering its functioning. The idea is to make it as "airy and aerial" as possible and to reveal the mechanics in broad daylight. A great classic of watchmaking.

With its black alligator-style leather strap, coated with a layer of rubber to make it matte and soft, this model sports a modern look and sleek style.

A Swiss mechanical caliber

Totally laid bare, the hand-wound mechanical movement is hollowed out to the maximum. Bringing the complex orchestration of components and cogs into majesty, it metamorphoses the mechanism into a mesmerizing spectacle for those who can appreciate the backstory. Visible through a transparent caseback, this Swiss-made Sellita caliber, equipped with 19 jewels and generating 28,800 oscillations per hour, has a power reserve of 45 hours.
