The Rolex Submariner 5513 are among the most iconic models from the brand with the crown. Introduced to the Rolex catalog in 1962, the 5513 Submariner reference remained in continuous production until 1989, making it one of the most legendary Submariners in the eyes of vintage collectors. It is also one of the oldest Rolex references in the brand's history, with over twenty years of production.

This particular reference is often taken as a source of inspiration for other dive watches, indeed the Submariner 5513 is so iconic that its shape, design and dial have become "must-haves" for any watch calling itself a diver! Initially produced with a gilt lacquered dial, the reference 5513 changed to a matte dial around 1966. It was during these years that the model really took off and became what it is today, an iconic piece for any watch lover!

What you need to know

The Submariner we are presenting today ticks all the boxes of what we love about vintage Sub'! Indeed, this 1968 example gives us a matte black "Meters First" dial, with its painted hour markers and evenly patinated hands, which gives a vintage look to the wrist. For those new to vintage Rolex watch collecting, this type of dial is so called because the depth line has "200m = 660ft" and not the reverse. This type of dial can be found on early versions of 5513, up to early 1970.

His case is in beautiful condition, it is still equipped with its "folded" steel Oyster bracelet.

The package

This Submariner is in excellent condition. Its crown was changed during a service to a Triplock version, and its insert is also serviceable. It will be delivered in a Lepage leather case.
