The short history

Among Willy Breitling's many recognized achievements is the founding of the "Eight Aviation" department in 1938. Willy Breitling knew the strict requirements of civil and military aviation: the department's name, which includes the word "eight," was chosen to evoke the eight days of power reserve that clocks and other on-board instruments offered.

This "Eight Aviation" department was also responsible for the development of Breitling wrist chronographs for aviation use. The founding date of the "Eight Aviation" department was fortuitous: its designs immediately attracted the attention of army pilots, and as World War II threatened to break out, the department received a large order for on-board chronographs from the Royal Air Force for its famous fighters.

The Navitimer 8 collection then paid tribute to Willy Breitling and his "Eight Aviation" department.

Vintage inspiration

The Navitimer 8 is directly inspired by the design codes of the Co-Pilot Reference 768 AVI, whose rotating bezel and iconic triangular marker won over pilots. This watch features a 43 mm diameter case and a blue dial for excellent readability. The three circular counters stand out clearly from the dial thanks to their contrasting color. The whole is topped by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

This Navitimer 8 B01 comes with a steel "Pilot" bracelet with a folding clasp, a clasp that is both secure and comfortable.

A Manufacture B01 caliber

Visible through the sapphire caseback is the first chronograph movement entirely developed and manufactured by Breitling, the B01 caliber. It has been considered one of the most sophisticated mechanical movements since its creation by experts and enthusiasts. It offers a power reserve of over 70 hours, a column wheel whose role is to control the three chronograph functions: start, stop and reset. This movement also incorporates other innovative features, such as a patented self-centering system and a chronograph heart to reset the mechanism to zero. And like all Breitling watches, it is COSC certified.
