Seiko and the Landmaster series

The Seiko Landmaster series was born in Japan in 1993 with the reference SBBW005 designed by Seiko's legendary designer, Mr. Ikuo Tokunaga. Throughout its three decades of existence, the series has earned the trust and responded to the needs of adventurers and mountaineers with ever-improving specifications. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the series, Seiko unveils a new Prospex creation that draws its inspiration from the great reliability of successive generations of Landmasters, as well as from the design of the most iconic models.

A useful and functional design

With this new Landmaster, lightness and comfort are ensured by a pure titanium case, a material that offers excellent corrosion resistance, while a super-hard coating protects against scratches. The compass ring and rotating bezel, characteristic of the Landmaster series, have been given a three-dimensional shape for ease of use and legibility. On the strap, an adjustment function allows the wearer to easily adjust the length so that the watch can be worn over technical clothing.

The blue gradient dial represents the view from the summit of Mount Everest. It is said that in the high mountains, where the air is rarefied and there is no diffuse reflection, the sky appears dark even during the day. The dial color expresses the way the sky gradually turns dark blue as the climber ascends, as if the universe could be glimpsed through the sky.

Three-dimensional indexes and thick hands ensure great legibility, even in hostile environments. Each index is generously coated with Lumibrite, as are the hands. The sapphire crystal with super-clear coating ensures great legibility from all angles.

The caseback features the inscription "Édition Limitée" as well as the watch's serial number.
