Polaris Geographic: a complication that reinvents traveler's time

Faithful to the tradition that requires only useful auxiliary functions to be incorporated into the Polaris collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the Polaris Geographic. A unique interpretation of the travel watch by the Grande Maison, the Geographic has become one of its signature complications.

Instead of indicating only the time in a second time zone, the Geographic complication comes with a 24-hour day/night indicator and a very special aperture located in the lower part of the dial: this displays the name of the main city in each of the 24 major time zones and also specifies those that adopt daylight saving time where applicable. Travelers can set the second time zone according to their location (by turning the crown at 10 o'clock), avoiding the need to calculate the time difference. Simply select a city and the corresponding time is automatically displayed. Thanks to the stop-second function, the second time zone is accurate to the nearest hour, minute and second.

A unique dial and optimal legibility

The watch's lacquered dial features a new ocean gray color. Mysterious, intense, reminiscent of the color of the sea on a cloudy day, it sports a double gradient finish that makes it deeper and more opulent. Requiring almost 40 working steps and the application of 35 coats of lacquer, it features symmetrically arranged indications. The second time zone is displayed in a counter at 6 o'clock, and the power reserve indicator in the upper left quarter of the dial. To offer enhanced legibility, orange accents draw the eye to key information points, and create a contrast with Super-Luminova-coated indexes, numerals and hands.

A statement design

The 42 mm-diameter steel case of this Polaris is distinguished by off-center crowns, clean lines, a domed crystal glass, a thin bezel and alternating brushed and polished surfaces. The beauty of the dial is enhanced by the asymmetry of its design, with the second time zone in a counter at six o'clock and the power reserve indicator in the upper left.

Echoing the functionality and refined expression of this very useful complication, the Polaris Geographic comes with two straps, one in black textured rubber and the other in blue-gray fabric, as well as an interchangeable folding clasp, to vary styles in an instant.

An ultra-high-performance caliber

The sapphire crystal caseback reveals a delicately finished automatic movement: the Calibre 939. The quintessence of Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmaking, combining mechanical elegance and high performance, it offers a 70-hour power reserve.
