Swiss watchmaker Oris continues its series of watches dedicated to jazz legends by unveiling a model in honor of Dexter Gordon, one of the greatest tenor saxophonists of all time. This new timepiece, limited to 1000 pieces, celebrates the musical legacy of the “Long Tall Dex” through a sober, elegant design.
A discreet but precise tribute
The 40mm stainless steel case houses an automatic mechanical movement, while the sleek dial features a saxophone-reed-style index at 12 o'clock, an obvious nod to Gordon's instrument of choice. The musician's name is delicately inscribed around the perimeter of the dial, one letter per index, while the caseback is engraved with his famous nickname. The brass-colored seconds hand, meanwhile, recalls the warm color of saxophones.
A musical heritage
Born in 1923, Dexter Gordon left his mark on jazz history by popularizing the bebop style. His exceptional talent and charismatic personality made him a key figure in the music world. In creating this watch, Oris pays tribute to an artist who transcended musical boundaries and inspired generations of musicians.
A watch for music lovers and watch enthusiasts
With its timeless design and subtle references to the world of jazz, the Oris Dexter Gordon Limited Edition will appeal to watch collectors and music enthusiasts alike.
