Reinvented heritage

The Black Bay 54 is undoubtedly the most historically faithful watch ever designed by TUDOR. It follows the tradition of the Black Bay line, which draws inspiration from the brand's iconic diving watches, while adding subtle and confident modern touches.

For this “Lagoon Blue” edition, TUDOR has revisited the DNA of its very first modern diving watch: the Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922, launched in 1954. This legendary model, tested and adopted by the French and US Marines, is also one of the favorites of professional diving pioneers. The Black Bay 54 pays homage to this icon.

It features a “small crown” without a guard, as on the first 7922 models, which did not yet have the famous red triangle at 12 o'clock that would later become an aesthetic signature. All of this contributes to a sober, refined, and functional silhouette.

TUDOR has even carefully reproduced the minute hand with its beveled base, in proportions that have been revised to balance the 37 mm case. The seconds hand is also as close as possible to the original, reinforcing the almost organic link between the two generations.

The profile of the bezel is directly inherited from the 7922 reference, as are the discreet markings on its steel insert. But far from being a nostalgic reinterpretation, the Black Bay 54 also asserts its contemporary character with a “sand-blasted” dial, a latest-generation T-fit clasp, and the Manufacture caliber MT5400, a state-of-the-art movement combining robustness, precision, and everyday comfort.
