The TAG Heuer Monaco celebrated its 53rd birthday in 2022 and this iconic watch will continue to inspire us for many years to come. This highly prized watch has a new circular brushed black dial on which the 18K pink gold chronograph hands and hour markers contrast perfectly. As far as the movement is concerned, the Heuer Manufacture 02 calibre is obviously fitted to this new special model !

A little history

The Monaco is above all an innovative model. Indeed, it introduced the first square monobloc case that was perfectly water-resistant and it was also the first watch equipped with an automatic micro-rotor chronograph movement; the Chronomatic calibre 11. The Monaco was propelled to the forefront in 1971 when it appeared in the film Le Mans on the wrist of Steve McQueen.

The icon is modernised

In 2009, for its 40th anniversary, the Monaco was equipped with Calibre 12, which would remain with the watch for the next 10 years. For its 50th anniversary, TAG Heuer is introducing the Manufacture Calibre Heuer 02 in the legendary case. This automatic manufacture chronograph movement, developed and produced by TAG Heuer, incorporates 168 components including a column wheel and a vertical clutch. Precise and reliable, this new calibre beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 80 hours. This Monaco CBL2180.FC6497 pays tribute to the myhtic black Monaco of the 1970s. It is mounted on a magnificent black alligator leather strap with a black titanium folding clasp.
