An integrated design

The BR 05 belongs to the family of watches with an integrated strap: the strap merges with the case into a coherent whole. For Bruno Belamich, Creative Director and Co-founder of Bell & Ross: "The integration of the bracelet case is done in the brand's codes while bringing another dimension to the watch: the first link is part of the case. This type of design has been a reference since the 1970s, and when transposed to Bell & Ross, we get a result that is both obvious, modern and graphic."

Starting with the 40mm case, Bell & Ross has managed to retain the three-part construction look that has distinguished its square watches since 2005. Satin polished steel dominates the look, but the handsome beveled edge around the outer edge of the square case adds depth and interest. The case is secured by exposed screws screwed in from above. By exposing these screws, Bell & Ross has kept the spirit of a cockpit instrument without succumbing to the superfluous, and the softened angles give a whole new look. The same thing happens on the back, where four additional screws are driven into the corners to secure the case back.

The polished bevels highlight and enhance the overlapping volumes. The rubber strap, in the same color as the dial, offers remarkable flexibility, and its steel links integrate perfectly with the case, reinforcing the watch's design

A blue sunray dial

The dial of the BR-05 is a Bell & Ross classic. The Super-LumiNova that fills the applied numerals, indexes and hands ensures that this dial is legible both day and night. Notice how the shapes of the indexes mimic the rounded shapes of the case and bracelet. The Blue Steel dial is finished with a sunray pattern, while the date window at 3 o'clock is large enough to blend in with the other markers. This date window also echoes the rounded squares that dominate the BR-05. It's an elegant and sporty take on the classic aviation dial, updated for perfect harmony with the overall design of this watch.

An automatic caliber

Inside this watch, we find the BR-CAL.321 automatic movement, built from a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 base and highly decorated to be seen through the transparent case back. The rotor is skeletonized, giving the watch a technical sensibility while offering a view of the workings beneath. This caliber is a true tractor, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering 40 hours of power reserve.
