Seiko Prospex Black Series Automatic Diver's 1970 watch black dial black steel bracelet 44 mm

A modern reinterpretation of the 1970 model, this reference is based on the Uemura models, offering new colours and textures, aiming to be bolder and more striking than the original watch. We find the same case as the original 1970 model, long appreciated by fans around the world for its robust specifications and fluid case design, marked by an asymmetrical extension protecting the crown at the four o'clock position. The design is reminiscent of the watches of the late 1960s but with revised proportions. What really changes in this watch, which is part of the Black Series, is that the case has been treated in black with a PVD coating. The side surfaces of the case are carefully polished and the watch is presented on a five-row steel bracelet to create a sharp, modern profile. There is of course a domed sapphire crystal to protect the whole, framed by a unidirectional diving bezel with a black aluminium insert.

The dial opts for new colours and a new texture, something we see very often in the Seiko and GS collections. Here, the black colour reflects the mysterious world of the ocean at night, the orange accentuates the lights that illuminate it and the texture expresses the sand on the sea floor. The applied indexes and hands are filled with a cream-coloured Lumibrite, which matches the orange seconds hand. This colour is also found on the depth indication.

This timepiece is powered by the 8L35 calibre, designed specifically for diving watches by the watchmakers at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in northern Japan. It is a 4Hz automatic movement with a power reserve of 50 hours.
