The different types of stones: precious, fine, ornamental and organic

Did you know? There are only four gemstones: diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. All other natural stones are called "fine stones", or "ornamental stones" (the latter are also known as "hard stones"). Fine stones (which were once called "semi-precious", but this designation is no longer allowed), have the characteristic of being transparent, unlike ornamental stones which are opaque. We will find in the family of fine stones such as aquamarine, tourmaline, garnet, topaz, amethyst, or citrine, and in the ornamental stones lapis lazuli, tiger eye, malachite, turquoise, pyrite, carnelian or onyx. The last distinction that can possibly be made concerns the so-called organic stones that are mother-of-pearl, amber and coral, all of which come from living organisms such as shells and trees.

Fine stone necklaces: precious and colorful jewelry

Fine stones are thus gems with multiple colors, which give life to cheerful and sparkling jewelry. Coiled in the hollow of your neck or worn longer in the neckline, necklaces set with fine stones bring a touch of light to each of your outfits, and attract the eye in the prettiest of ways. Discover a selection of creations in 18k white, yellow or rose gold (750 gold) decorated with fine stones, jewels signed Lepage and the greatest jewelry brands.
