The little story

A legend in Swiss watchmaking, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch has become a symbol of the conquest of space. It has been used in all NASA manned space flights from the Gemini project to the ISS program. Approved on March 1, 1965 by NASA to accompany space missions, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph became a legend on Buzz Aldrin's wrist in 1969 during the Apollo 11 mission.

But the model we are going to present you today looks nothing like a traditional Speedmaster! And we will explain why...

What you need to know

The "Speedmaster Day-Date Automatic" collection is powered by the automatic caliber 1045. It consists of seven distinct and different models with unique case reference numbers and a very seventies look. This line of watches was introduced in 1974, shortly after the presentation of the Lemania 5100 chronograph movement, the initial draft of which was used by Omega to make its own 1045 movement.

This caliber 1045 is a real evolution for the automatic movements of the time by displaying no less than :

• Day and date windows at 3 o'clock
• A 24-hour "day/night" dial at 12:00
• A 12-hour totalizer at 6 hours
• An extremely legible chronograph minute hand, thanks to its central reading

The package

This Speedmaster was released in the late 1970s. It is in excellent condition and comes with its Omega service box and its intervention card of December 2021. It benefits from the Manufacture warranty until December 2023.
