Ressence is a watch brand that never stops challenging the status quo of mechanical watchmaking. It proves this once again with the Type 5, the first watch to be perfectly readable underwater, regardless of the viewing angle. A true feat of Haute Horlogerie, the Type 5 is designed with a "water drop" effect on the dial to achieve crystal-clear readability. To achieve this, Ressence uses applied science. Since oil and glass have very similar reactions to the refraction of light, the eye is deceived and momentarily loses its perception of depth. The result is that the watch face appears closer and closer, and removes all the reflections and distortions usually visible through a sapphire crystal. The Type 5 also meets the requirements of the ISO 6425 standard, being able to withstand extreme conditions. This standard subjects the watch to water-resistance, shock-resistance and magnetic stress tests.
