A mixture of simplicity and complexity

Ressence aims to bring a new vision of what contemporary Haute Horlogerie should be and it is with the Type 1 that the Belgian designer Benoît Mintiens brings a new type of mechanical watch. The name of the brand being a contraction of "Renaissance" and "Essential", this Slim version responds perfectly to the mission of the brand, offering us the purest watch of the range. By rethinking the usual model of the watch, the Manufacture differentiates itself from other brands by its visual balance, a mix of simplicity and complexity, to arrive at something unique in its kind. The brand has succeeded in creating a timepiece that challenges what a wristwatch can be in the 21st century. Without hands or crown, this "Less is more" philosophy brings this watch concept to a new experience that is playful, almost magical...   

Designed to fit the wrist

The Type 1 Slim is designed like a pebble, offering a soft touch feel. Its slimline case is only 11mm thick and is constructed from a single block of Grade 5 Titanium, leaving a feeling of absolute lightness with a weight of less than 70 grams on the scale. The Type 1 Slim has a more elegant and modern silhouette, thanks to this ingenious construction. On this Type 1 Slim B reference, a black barenia leather strap gives the impression of being integrated to the case. 
The watch is topped by a domed sapphire crystal that extends to the edge of the 42 mm case. It then features a plain black dial made of nickel silver, giving the sensation of being able to touch the time. The usual hands are replaced by a display where the hours, minutes and seconds turn around each other on the same plane, as if the time were animated on a sheet of paper. This makes reading the time more intuitive and easier. 
Without the crown, the Type 1 Slim is comfortable on both the right and left wrists. But without the crown, one wonders about its functioning. The secret is revealed in the case back. The latter has a retractable lever that allows to wind the mechanism, as well as to set the time and the day of the week. With this system, the user becomes one with the watch. All this is made possible by a unique system, the ROCS.  

Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS 1)

The patented ROCS 1 (Ressence Orbital Convex System) is a state-of-the-art watch complication module composed of 107 parts, whose main and secondary discs are visible directly on the dial. This offers a three-dimensional result, with a movement in perpetual evolution. This module is driven by the minute axis of a specially modified ETA 2892/A calibre. It offers 36 hours of power reserve, and keeps its usual frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The functions of the watch are classic: seconds (small hands), minutes (the large hand running along the dial) and hours (the sub-dial graduated from 1 to 12). The days of the week are added with an AM/PM indication, presented on the last small dial.
