Ressence's objective is to bring a new vision of what contemporary Haute Horlogerie should be and it is with the Type 1 that the Belgian designer Benoît Mintiens makes us discover his universe. The name of the brand being a contraction of the words "Renaissance" and "Essential", this Slim version perfectly answers the mission of the brand by offering us the purest watch of the range. By rethinking the usual model of the watch, the Manufacture differentiates itself from other brands by its visual balance, a mix of simplicity and complexity, to arrive at something unique in its kind. The brand has succeeded in creating a timepiece that challenges what a wristwatch can be in the 21st century. This striking Ressence Type 1 Slim RED has neither hands nor crown and is the pure prodyuit of the "Less is more" philosophy. This watchmaking concept offers us a new playful, almost magical experience...   

Designed to fit the wrist

The Type 1 Slim has an organic design that has been conceived around the wrist. Indeed, this piece is inspired by a pebble with an asymmetrical shape while remaining light. Its slender case is only 11 mm thick and weighs less than 70 grams thanks to its grade 5 Titanium alloy. Thanks to this manufacturing process, the Type 1 Slim presents an elegant and modern silhouette with refined lines enhanced by the bright red of this very small 2021 series. Its 42 mm case is overhung by a domed sapphire crystal that completely covers it. In order to make reading the time more intuitive and easier, the usual hands have been replaced by a display where the hours, minutes and seconds turn around each other on the same plane, as if the time was animated on a sheet of paper. 

No crown?

Without a crown, the Type 1 Slim Red is comfortable on both the right and left wrists. But without the crown, how does it work? The secret is on the back of the case where a retractable lever allows us to find the functions of a classic crown : winding the mechanism, setting the time and the day of the week... With this system, the user becomes one with his watch. All this is made possible by a unique system, the ROCS...

Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS 1)

The patented ROCS 1 (Ressence Orbital Convex System) is a state-of-the-art watch complication module composed of 107 parts, whose main and secondary discs are visible directly on the dial. This provides a three-dimensional experience, and a display of the constantly changing movement. This module is driven by the minute axis of a specially modified ETA 2892/A calibre. It offers 36 hours of power reserve, and retains its usual frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The functions of the watch are classic: seconds (small hands), minutes (the large hand running along the edge of the dial) and hours (the sub-dial graduated from 1 to 12). The days of the week are added with an AM/PM indication, presented on the last sub-dial.
