This yellow gold watch is an excellent example of why Zenith has always been a leading Manufacture, not limited to El Primero chronographs

Close to the stars

When talking about vintage Zenith, collectors often think of the race to develop the first automatic El Primero chronograph movement introduced in 1969, a legendary calibre that still forms the cornerstone of the brand's modern catalogue. However, when one delves deeper into the rich history of this brand, it quickly becomes apparent that there is much more to discover about the brand since its creation in 1865 in Le Locle.

Its founder, Georges Favre-Jacot, was one of the first Swiss watchmakers to bring all stages of watch production under one roof. In Le Locle, you can still find the same Zenith factory as well as Mr. Favre-Jacot's villa designed by Le Corbusier, one of the first houses designed by the Franco-Swiss architect and all-round designer.

The name of the Zenith Manufacture itself refers to the highest point of a star in the sky, a symbol of excellence for the company, which was intended to symbolise the heights the company would strive to reach. The symbol of Zenith is the guiding star, which is found on the crown and dial of this watch.

What you need to know

This Zenith is what Italian collectors call "Stellina"! These are the Zenith watches made in gold and presenting the small star above the name of the Manufacture.

This watch is a rare piece in this condition! Still in its "juice", it remains authentic and magnificently patinated, and has hardly suffered the ravages of time. Its 750 thousandths yellow gold case is in very good condition, as is its nicely patinated dial. Its gold index and star, riveted to the dial, show the care taken in the manufacture.

The watch is powered by a Zenith automatic calibre 2542PC. This movement, produced in 359,000 pieces between 1964 and 1969, is a reliable and robust engine, which also explains the popularity of the brand among collectors and amateurs.

The package

This vintage watch is a beautiful mixed piece for watch lovers and aspiring watch lovers. Its original strap has been changed to a black Cartier alligator leather strap. The pin buckle is made of PVD steel to match perfectly with the rest of the watch. It will be delivered in its vintage Zenith box. This Zenith "Stellina" has been authenticated, "cleaned" and adjusted by our watchmaker and benefits from the Lepage Vintage 1 year warranty. You can benefit from a free engraving (case back) on request.
