The brief history

In 1969, Heuer made its mark by releasing the Monaco, which became the first waterproof, square automatic chronograph! The release of the film "Le Mans" in 1971 propelled the Monaco to the forefront of the international scene.

50 years later, TAG Heuer is celebrating the anniversary of this iconic timepiece in style! For this occasion, TAG Heuer is producing five special editions, each one different from the other! At the same time, the brand is also presenting the latest edition of the Monaco Calibre 12, in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces. This piece stands out thanks to its grey dial, giving it an ultra contemporary design.

What you need to know

When the Monaco Calibre 12 was launched, TAG Heuer completed the collection with a version that was intended to be modern and different from the Monaco Calibre 11, particularly with its right-hand crown. For this latest Edition, limited to 1,000 pieces, TAG Heuer chose a grey brushed ruthenium dial, combined with a black alligator strap.

The ruthenium dial is the only one of its kind in the world.

Ruthenium, RU44 on the periodic table, is a member of the platinum group and has a dynamic iridescent colour that varies according to variations in light. The opaline black counters at 3 and 9 o'clock offer a striking contrast. Touches of red on the central hand, on the index at 12 o'clock and on the tips of the hour and minute hands add dynamism to the dial. A remarkable element that reinforces the timeless yet modern style of this watchmaking icon. Each case back has been engraved with an inscription corresponding to its limited edition number.
