An iconic collection

Appearing in the 1960s, the Seiko 5 was a new standard in the world of affordable mechanical watches at the time. Many even are the watch lovers who discovered watchmaking thanks to one of these models as affordable as robust and reliable! Synonymous with reliability, durability and performance, these values are unquestionably appreciated by mechanical watch enthusiasts worldwide.

For some time now, Seiko has been collaborating with several other Japanese and international companies to make super cool collabs. We could find tributes with Brian May, Naruto watches, Street Fighter or even Ultra Seven. Today, the brand presents a limited edition of 8,900 pieces in collaboration with Peanuts Snoppy!

Snoopy and his surfboard

Peanuts started in 1950 as a comic strip in a newspaper, with characters that are now internationally known and have fans all over the world! Many watch brands collaborate with the famous character Snoopy, so it was logical that the Japanese giant Seiko would one day end up adopting the beagle!

For this model, the brand was totally inspired by original Peanuts illustrations to create a design on the dial and case back. To do so, Seiko selected vignettes made in 1968, the year the iconic Seiko 5 Sports was launched!

As you know, Snoopy is no ordinary beagle. With a vivid imagination, he leads a pretty exciting life! So on this reference SRPK25K1, we find Snoopy with a surfboard! The basic model for this watch was not chosen at random, Seiko having used the 38 mm stainless steel "Diver's SKX" style case, with a thickness of 12.10 mm and a water resistance of 100 meters. The details at Peanuts don't stop at the dial and case back! For example, the bezel insert uses the "Schulz" font, invented by Peanuts creator Charles M.Schulz.

Technical side

This Seiko 5 Sports embeds the manufacture caliber 4R36 with automatic winding. This is one of the Japanese firm's must-have movements that is notably used in most Presage and Prospex watches. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 42 hours. Designed to be reliable and robust, its construction is as simple as possible. In addition, it offers a most appreciable "Day / Date" complication!
