A brief history

The Memovox Polaris watch was designed in 1962 and 1714 were produced between 1965 and 1970. It was equipped with several types of dial and hands, depending on the markets for which it was intended, and the minute variations in numerals, hour-markers and signatures are now the passion of the most ardent collectors.
In 2008, Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to pay tribute to this legendary model by creating a more than perfect replica, the Memovox Tribute to Polaris in a limited edition. A reference very similar to the original Memovox Polaris, as it was launched in 1968, forty years earlier.

What you need to know

This Jaeger-Lecoultre watch is in excellent condition. Bought in 2009 at Place Vendôme, this watch is numbered 005 out of a series of 768 pieces. A very nice number!

To the delight of collectors and enthusiasts of the history of the iconic Polaris watch, this Tribute to Polaris faithfully reproduces the 1968 model, displaying its essential features. A large 42 mm steel case with a polished finish, three crowns with a "grid" decoration and an internal rotating bezel. Its matt black dial is an exact copy of the one of the time, and its trapezoidal indexes are luminescent. Its leather strap, pin buckle and plexiglass are original, reflecting the brand's vintage codes.

In order to make it a perfect homage, the case back includes the 16 holes that let the sound of the alarm pass through, as well as the engravings of the diver and the technical annotations present inside the 1968 model, to symbolise its water resistance to 200 metres.

The watch is powered by a calibre 956. A manufacture movement integrating a striking mechanism, consisting of a bell suspended from the case back, the central second and the quick-change date. Measuring 7.45 mm high, it offers 45 hours of power reserve and a precision guaranteed by 28,800 vibrations per hour. Setting the watch is very simple, via three crowns. One for the alarm and the date, a second for the internal diving bezel and the last for the hour and minute functions.

The package

This Memovox Polaris will be delivered to you Full Set with its original box faithful to the original model, as well as its papers and a replacement plexiglass. The watch has been serviced in November 2020 by the House of Jaeger-LeCoultre and has benefited from a complete service with polishing. As such, it benefits from a Jaeger-LeCoultre warranty valid until 2022. This watch is also covered by the Lepage Vintage 1 year warranty.
