Rolex Submariner "James Bond" watch 37 mm 1958 Ref 5508

The origins

The Rolex Ref 5508 makes its appearance in 1957. It is the heir of the Ref 6538, the James Bond watch camped by Sean Connery in the movie James Bond vs. Dr. No in 1962. The production of this diver's watch will stop in 1961 to make way for the Submariner 5512. The 5508 is the last Submariner proposed by Rolex with a water-resistance to 100m and an unshouldered crown, hence its nickname "Small Crown".

A dial that makes people talk

This Submariner 5508 is in excellent condition. The copy that we have the pleasure to offer you has a service dial with a beautiful tropical patina. Its indexes and hands are also covered with a nice uniform patina. The inscription T<25 and the " eroded " aspect of the indexes confirms that they are covered with tritium. The 5508 has been equipped with multiple dials with different markings for the pleasure and/or the trouble of the collectors of Rolex watches: gold, gold and red, white, exclamation at 6 o'clock... The dial of this model is a service dial dating from the 60s.

A breathtaking bracelet

The bracelet is in very good condition, it is the 6636 Flushfit riveted steel bracelet with stretchable links. The folding clasp still fulfills its role and the stretch is really not pronounced for a beauty of this age.

The package
