Much more than a diver's watch, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is a true tool watch that was developed for saturation diving specialists. Born in 1967, the Sea-Dweller is still produced by Rolex. This watch nicknamed "Double Red" or SDDR is a very coveted collector's item, let us explain why...

The pitch

The Sea-Dweller was designed to accompany the pioneers of deep-sea life and experimental underwater life programs developed in the 1960s. It is aesthetically similar to the Submariner but it is 10 times more waterproof!

The origins

The Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 was born in 1967 and was specially designed for use during saturation dives. The Sea-Dweller differs from the Submariner by its thicker case, its helium exhaust valve, its nickname Sea-Dweller and its glass without cyclope. The first generation Sea-Dweller produced from 1967 (1.71X.XXX) to 1974 (5.257.XXX) has two lines of red text, hence its nickname Doube Red. Four typographies will follow one another on this mythical dial they are called Mark or MK.

This Rolex Sea-Dweller Double Red is an exceptional piece and is one of the most sought-after models by collectors around the world. Indeed, in addition to its rarity, this specific model numbered 3.770.373 is equipped with a Mark III dial. The MKIII is distinguished by its red marking on the dial to prevent the black from absorbing the red varnish. The particularity of the MKIII is to be the second least diffused typography after the MKI. Finally, as on the previous dials, the 6 of 610 is "open". The engine of this beauty, the relentless 1570 caliber, has been entirely serviced by Rolex. On the occasion of this service, the watch has been mounted on a new 93150 End Links 585 strap. The original 93150 EL 580 strap is supplied with the watch. This beauty falls perfectly on the wrist and settles like a charm ... Will you dare to wear it?

The package

The plexiglass is in very good condition, it is a magnificent " chimney glass " rising 2mm from the edge of the bezel. The dial is entirely preserved, without any retouch, as well as the hands. This 1973 Rolex Sea-Dweller Double Red has been authenticated and revised by Rolex and benefits from a two-year Rolex warranty. The package contains a Rolex revision case, a warranty card, a maintenance booklet and the original strap.
