A short story

It was in 1952 that Breitling invented the instrument watch for pilots. The Breitling Navitimer, a contraction of Navigation and Timer. The Navitimer is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic watch models ever created. Even today, it remains Breitling's flagship model. This model was created as part of a project to create a functional tool watch with the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). The large AOPA wing logo is the symbol of this prestigious collaboration. The first Navitimer watches were equipped with a Valjoux 72 chronograph movement for a very short period of time before giving way to the Venus 178 chronograph movement.

What you need to know

This 1959 model is in perfect working order. The original dial is beautifully preserved and its patina is magnificent. Its curved Plexiglas is in good condition (slight scratch at 5 o'clock). The case is well preserved, the bevel of the lugs is still visible as well as the engravings on the bottom of the case. The beaded bezel is also in very good condition. The pushers and the crown seem to be original. Finally, the chronograph starts, stops and resets correctly. It will be delivered to you in a Breitling revision case.
