The Rolex Submariner 5513 is one of the most emblematic models of the brand with the crown. Introduced in the Rolex catalog in 1962, the reference 5513 Submariner remained in continuous production until 1989, making it one of the most mythical Submariners in the eyes of vintage collectors. It is also one of the oldest Rolex references in the history of the brand, with more than twenty years of production.

This particular reference is often taken as a source of inspiration for other dive watches, indeed the Submariner 5513 is so iconic that its shape, design and dial have become "must-haves" for any watch calling itself a diver! Initially produced with a gilt lacquered dial, the reference 5513 changed to a matte dial in the late 1960s, around 1966. It was during these years that the model really took off and became what it is today, an iconic piece for any watch lover!

What you need to know

The Submariner we present today ticks all the boxes of what we like in vintage Sub'! Indeed, this 1970 example offers us a very clean matte black "Serif" dial, with its painted indexes and its hands with a homogeneous patina, which gives a vintage look to the wrist.

Its case is in beautiful condition, it is still equipped with its steel bracelet "folded" Oyster. It is topped by a bezel with a MK3 "Fat Font" insert that matches the watch perfectly.
