Raymond Weil Millésime Chronograph Tri-Compax watches
The return of a mechanical chronograph with vintage charm
With the Millésime Chronograph Tri-Compax line, Raymond Weil presents its own vision of the retro mechanical chronograph, which is elegant, sporty, and extremely well balanced. Inspired by the golden age of watchmaking in the 1940s, these models feature the iconic codes of the genre – pump-style pushers, a sectorized dial with three counters, a satin-finished bezel and, above all, a controlled diameter of 39.5 mm – while incorporating a high-performance Swiss automatic movement housed in a refined case.
A perfectly proportioned Tri-Compax design
The term “Tri-Compax” refers to the presence of three counters aligned at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, a configuration sought after by collectors of classic chronographs. In the Millésime collection, this layout blends seamlessly into a sectorized dial, marked by:
- A peripheral tachymeter scale
- A textured spiral minute track
- Slightly recessed counters
- An embossed central cross emphasizing the symmetry
The versions offered by Raymond Weil include:
- Black dial, for a sober and timeless look
- Reversed panda blue dial with silver counters and light blue Arabic numerals
- Anthracite or salmon dial, for a more dressy touch
- Versions with rose gold PVD or polished/satin-finished steel case
- Steel or calfskin strap depending on the model
A high-performance Swiss automatic chronograph movement
All Millésime Chronographes Tri-Compax watches are powered by the RW5030 caliber, developed from the Sellita SW510. This is a cam-operated automatic movement with proven reliability, based on the architecture of the famous Valjoux 7753. It offers:
- A frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz)
- A power reserve of 56 hours
- An hour, minute, small seconds, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and central chronograph seconds display
This movement is visible through a transparent case back, revealing an oscillating weight signed “W” – a discreet nod to the Geneva-based Maison.
Finishes that promote balance
Raymond Weil has crafted the case to maintain a slim silhouette despite its complexity: it is only 12.9 mm thick, thanks to a domed case back, box-type sapphire crystal, and a compact case profile. The bezel is vertically brushed, the lugs are polished on top, and the sides are satin-finished, creating a subtle play of contrasts. All of this reinforces the sporty-chic look of the model without ever overloading it.
