The basics

Rolex released the Submariner 16800 in 1979. It was produced until 1988. The 16800 is a historical version in more ways than one. Featuring stainless steel, gold and, for the first time, gold and steel. Compared to the 1680, the Submariner 16800 is equipped with a more precise movement, a quick-adjusting date and a sapphire crystal. These various changes have made it possible to increase the water resistance of the watch from 200 to 300 meters, which is still the case on contemporary models. This model has therefore been a milestone in the history of Rolex.

We tell you everything

The model we are pleased to offer has a glossy black dial with white gold circled hour-markers. This Submariner is in excellent condition. Its case presents slight scratches. The original dial is in good condition. Its indexes are covered with a slight patina of the most beautiful effect. The inscription T<25 confirms that the indexes are covered with tritium. To note, some traces on the upper left quarter of the dial. The hands and the bezel have been modified during an overhaul. The glass shows slight traces of shock at 4 o'clock and the diving bezel is in excellent condition . Finally, the inside of the case back is stamped "16800".
